Carlos Rivas Lincoln High School Summer Class of 1955
I jointed the USAF a month after graduation. I married my high school sweetheart Sylvia
Jagodzinski (W56) on Oct 5 1957. Sylvia and I went to live in Roswell New Mexico,
our first daughter was born a year later. I was stationed at Walker AFB, (now closed) until
I was discharged in Feb 1959. I went to work for Garrett Airsearch/Allied-Signal until I
retired (age 60) in 1997 after 38 years. We have two sons and two daughters, 8 grandchildren
and one great grand-daughter. The high lite of my working years was working on the Gemini,
Apollo and Skylab astronaut life support systems, for space programs. In May, 1972 the company
moved me and my family to Titusville, Florida for 18 months. I went to work at the Kennedy Space
Center in support of the Skylab program (life support System). In 1978 I became a techinal
writer for commercial and general aviation aircraft tech manuals.
My wife and I love to travel around the USA, we have driven through 45 states with five to go.
Most of our travels have been in a 1989 VW Van that I bought new. We spent a lot of time
with our children and grandchildren.
