I started collecting in 1966 or a little before that.
The first show i attended was in Las Vegas.
I met Gerald and Esta Brown there along with
Dennis Rogers.
Another show i remember well was put on by Jim Sanders
and Steve Crosson (Deceased). It was in Ojai.
I attended many shows with my old drinking buddies
John Wise and Steve Wakefield. John later purchased
a lot of my glass when i quit collecting.
When i started back collecting last year i bought
Steve Wakefields collection.
I remember great shows put on by Pat Morris in Coalinga
also Charlie Zuspan in Dos Palos.
Another great show was in Bakersfield Put on by Dee Willett (Deceased).
A couple guys with great glass there were Chuck Henry, Orville
Smith and Bill Heitkotter.
I traveled to Kingman Arizona for shows by another old buddy
Rip West (Deceased), another friend in kingman who i later
purchased his pony collection was Norm Headley. (Deceased)
My first national was in Hutchinson Kansas. I joined the NIA there.
I also attended a show in Auburn Nebraska that year
put on by Tom Wolfe. I can still see Dave Richter waiting for the
Tornado to carry us all away.
Dave was a person that had a knack for turning up odd and
unusual glass.
I moved to Post Falls Idaho where i met some great guys
there who collected also. they were Larry Cook
and my old buddy Bill Reid (we pulled a lot of glass together
and were even shot at.)
I took a trip 1 year with another collector from Idaho AL Dean.
We were gone for 3 weeks visiting and viewing collections all the
way to Minnesota. It was great and we met some nice people.
I was elected Western Regional VP when i lived in Idaho.
I moved back to So Calif and went on to the National in
San Diego which was put on by some old friends Maury and Addie
Tasem.
At the time of the San Diego show Yellow Cals and the Cobalt 60
junk were becoming more abundant. It was becoming a project to
keep these items off of sales tables at shows.
One of the last shows i remember attending was with old friends
Don and Dora Harned. It was in Oroville Ca.
