Ken Guffey Miller Lincoln High School Summer Class of 1955
After Lincoln I went to USC on an Athletic Scholarship. It was a huge adjustment
for me both academically and socially. Ultimately I did very well in both areas.
In sports I also excelled, starting every game for 3 years. I was captain of the
team my senior year and made All American. We won the National Championship my junior
year and also was voted the best team in the country my senior year.
Upon graduation I signed with the New York Yankees, got married to my wife Darlene
and changed my last name to Miller in respect for my step-father.
I played one year of professional baseball but had grown tired of the game
and quit and went into the business world.
I started business in the technical computer area. While in corporate life we
moved to San Francisco, New England and to Atlanta. More than 20 years ago I started
my own Company where I staffed corporations with management and very technical computer
personnel. Later I expanded my business to do Mergers and Acquisitions in the high
tech industry.
We, (still married to Darlene) now live in Reno and still do some business
but on a limited basis. I have one son and 3 grandchildren. I jog, work out and try
to stay fit. There are still a number of things I would like to do. My heart says hurry
up get going but my body says slow down, hold up, not so fast.
